Super Eagles striker Akor Adams says he is living his dream following his impressive debut for Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Adams, who marked his senior national team debut with a goal against Lesotho, came off the bench in the 63rd minute to replace Tolu Arokodare and made an immediate impact, finishing calmly in the 80th minute after connecting with a precise pass from Victor Osimhen.
Reflecting on his journey, the Sevilla striker took to his official Instagram page on Wednesday night to express his gratitude, emotionally recounting how Osimhen encouraged him during a difficult phase in Europe while he was at Norwegian side Sogndal, shortly after the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
“Some life scripts are handwritten by God himself! Thank you @victorosimhen9 — I am living a dream!!!” Adams wrote, acknowledging Osimhen’s motivational message as a major source of inspiration.
The 24-year-old revealed that the Galatasaray forward played a significant role in his journey to success, describing Osimhen’s encouragement as a turning point in his career.
Adams’ goal not only announced his arrival on the big stage but also highlighted the bond and mentorship within the Super Eagles squad, with Osimhen once again showing leadership beyond the pitch.
The striker started in Tuesday’s 4-0 victory over Benin Republic to help secure the Super Eagles’ place in the World Cup play-offs, and Adams is quickly establishing himself as a reliable option in Eric Chelle’s attack.
The striker’s rise has been remarkable, from struggling to find his footing in European football at Sogndal to now playing for Spanish side Sevilla and representing his country on the international stage.
With his debut goal and renewed confidence, Adams is expected to play a bigger role as Nigeria continues its quest for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
