De Laurentiis desperate to sign Lookman

By Daily Sports Nigeria on June 17, 2025

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is pushing hard to land Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman this summer, as the Serie A champions continue their rebuild under new manager Antonio Conte, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to Tuttosport via Napoli Magazine, De Laurentiis is handling negotiations personally with Atalanta’s ownership, the Percassi family, in an attempt to bring the in-form winger to Naples.

The club is seeking a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in January.

“De Laurentiis is relentless and is personally negotiating with the Percassi family to secure the approval for Ademola Lookman’s transfer,” the publication stated.

The newspaper also noted that Napoli’s president “truly believes” in the deal after failing to finalise a move for the Nigerian in January due to time constraints.

“In January, Napoli ran out of time to complete a deal for the 27-year-old African Footballer of the Year,” Tuttosport wrote.

The report adds that Napoli could once again include the transfer rights of forward Giacomo Raspadori in the deal, in an effort to lower Atalanta’s hefty asking price.
