Over 100 kids for Ikoyi Club Easter Tennis Clinic

By Daily Sports Nigeria on April 23, 2025

Over 100 kids are taking part in this year’s annual Easter Holiday Tennis Clinic which began on Tuesday with the training of young smashers at the tennis courts of the Ikoyi Club 1938.

For the 2025 tennis clinic, boys and girls between the ages of five and seven, eight and 10, 11 and 13 as well as 14 and 16 are expected to sharpen their skills in the game.

The clinic extends till Friday while the tournament for the event takes place on Saturday April 26 at the club.

One of the parents, Dr Emeka Azinge noted that his six-year-old daughter would try to explore all the ways to grow in the game.

“Tennis is more like a tradition because I started learning tennis at about the same age myself, my father, brought me to the academy, just like this. So, it’s more of a will, encouraging them and enabling them to play tennis. So, based on the socialisation that I had, I got to give the same to my child,” Azinge said.

Chairman of the tennis section, Diran Famakinwa, assured that all logistics were in place for the event.

“We have all the arrangements ready for the clinic and tournament proper. The participants will have loads of fun in the days ahead,” Famakinwa said.
