The 20th edition of the Doregos Inter-School Basketball Championship is set to take place on February 13 at the Doregos Private Academy in Ayobo, Ipaja, Lagos, with President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Musa Ahmadu-Kida, leading dignitaries to the event.
According to Mrs. Clementina Doregos, organiser of the championship, Ahmadu-Kida’s presence is a testament to his commitment to grassroots basketball development.
“His transformation of the sport is evident, and we believe his (Ahmadu-Kida) presence will inspire the young players,” she said.
Other dignitaries expected to attend include Paul Maduakor, owner of Zenith Sports and Prostar Sports, and former D’Tigers captain Olumide Oyedeji, a former guest who makes a return to the championship.
The event has consistently produced top players who have gone on to excel in top level basketball championships and colleges abroad.
The final games will feature host team Doregos, seeking their fifth title against the winners of the semi-final match between two-time winners Dansol and Phidel College in the boys’ final. In the girls’ final, Greensprings School will face off against Lagoon Girls.
