Nigeria Premier Football League leaders Remo Stars staged a dramatic comeback to beat Abia Warriors 3-2 at home on Wednesday, extending their lead at the top of the table to eight points.

Remo Stars had to fight back from two goals down to win this pulsating encounter and complete the double over the visitors this season. Franck Mawuena’s towering header in the 54th minute sealed the victory for the league leaders.

The win took Remo Stars to 42 points from 21 matches, strengthening their grip on the summit.

Meanwhile, defending champions Enugu Rangers suffered their second consecutive defeat, losing 2-1 at El Kanemi Warriors. The result saw Rangers drop to sixth place with 31 points, while El Kanemi moved up to fourth position with 32 points from 20 matches.

Elsewhere, Ikorodu United climbed to fifth place following a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Kano Pillars at home, taking their points tally to 31 from 21 matches.

In other matches, Bayelsa United thrashed Sunshine Stars 4-1 to move to 11th position, while Akwa United and Lobi Stars shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in Uyo.
