Osimhen sues Turkish journalist for defamation

By Daily Sports Nigeria on January 27, 2025

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has taken legal action against the Turkish journalist who accused him of assaulting him at an African restaurant two weeks ago, with the hearing expected to start today, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The on-loan Napoli man has been enjoying a new lease of life in the Turkish Super Lig, leading Galatarsary’s charge in the Turkish topflight and the UEFA Europa League with goals and assists until he was entangled in the controversy with a journalist last week.

A Turkish journalist named Tolga Bozduman recently accused Osimhen of assaulting him when he tried to take pictures of the Super Eagles star after Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw against Dynamo Kyiv two weeks ago.

The striker has since denied the allegations.

“I didn’t hit the journalists; they are lying. Why are you flashing your face, you have to ask permission for an interview. I told them they had to delete my photos. If I wanted to hit them, I would have.” he said in a video quoted by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray.

In a new development, radio host Buchi Laba, has said Osimhen is taking legal action against the journalist for defamation and the hearing is expected to start on Monday (today).

According to the Wazobia OAP, Osimhen said, “If I hit him, he’s going to get justice and if he lied, he’s going to get the wrath of the law.”

Osimhen has been in fine form since joining Galatasaray last summer. The Super Eagles star has registered 16 goals and five assists in 21 appearances for the Turkish giants.
