Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed profound gratitude to political leaders and allies who have thrown their weight behind him in the ongoing political tension between himself and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara praised the unwavering support of these leaders, emphasizing their role in defending the principles of democracy and governance in the state. He noted that their encouragement has been instrumental in maintaining his focus on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Rivers State despite the distractions.
The governor highlighted his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, stressing that the support he has received reinforces his determination to do more. “Leadership comes with challenges, and I am grateful to those who stand by me in these trying times. Your confidence in my leadership is not just a personal encouragement but a commitment to the progress of our beloved state,” Fubara stated.
The perceived rift between Fubara and Wike has been a topic of intense public interest, with political observers pointing to differences over policy direction and party control. While Wike remains a significant figure in the state’s political landscape, Fubara has been assertive in charting his own course.
Prominent political figures, including national stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have reportedly urged both leaders to resolve their differences amicably to prevent any rift that could destabilize the party ahead of future elections.
