Onitsha Country Club, Fegge in Anambra state has planned a multi-million naira standard pavellion to boost sporting activities in the over 20 years old club.
Mr Kingsley Ajulufo, President of the club while commending his predecessors' supports, exclusively told our Correspondent that the planned new pavellion was aimed at hosting local and international tournaments with the facility.
"I have made contacts for international donors. I am trying to go into affiliation with sports clubs in Australia through a member in Diaspora.
"I have made the request of 70,000 dollars for the club, they have requested for some videos and audio tapes of our club which I have already sent to them.
"So that is where I am hoping to get the money. I have also written letters to some great philanthropists in Anambra state to support us.
"Once we get this pavellion done, these hosting of tournaments will no longer be our problem," he said.
Ajulufo said that the pavellion when completed would house a standard kitchen, multi-purpose hall, six rooms accommodation, dressing room and our planned tennis academy for the youths in Fegge.
He said the club also planned to renovate its four tennis courts to modernize standard.
"We want to make sure we resurface the courts, change the nets and have quality good players in readiness for tournaments," he added.
The club president, however, bemoaned the non assistants from the Anambra state government, adding that the last letter written through the Chairman of the State Sports Development Commission had not been replied.
Ajulufo thanked the past presidents for trying their best for what the club is presently.
"A lot of people don't know yet we have a sports club here, and when I took over I started massive development.
"A lot of things you see here, we have done it in the last one year, It has been stressful," he noted.
