Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has confirmed his return to action immediately after the international break, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 25-year-old, who sustained an injury during Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa, revealed in a video that he expects to be back for the club’s next league match against Antalyaspor on October 19.
This update is a huge relief to Galatasaray fans, who initially feared he would be sidelined until November after being diagnosed with a muscle strain that was initially described as a knock by the player.
Osimhen’s injury, which occurred just after he netted twice in the game, led to his substitution at halftime, and the club quickly announced he had begun treatment.
The injury also ruled him out of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.
Initially, Osimhen was expected to miss six weeks of action. However, in a video circulating on social media, Osimhen confidently replied, “After the international break,” when questioned on his return date by Turkish journalist Caner Isbegendiren.
The news of Osimhen’s early return is a major boost for Galatasaray.
Turkish football analyst Emre Sarıgül highlighted the impact of the striker’s recovery, stating, “Osimhen’s return will be a massive lift for Galatasaray. His goal-scoring ability and physical presence will make a significant difference in the Süper Lig.”
Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September, Osimhen has been quite impactful, contributing two goals and four assists in four matches across all competitions. His presence will be key as Galatasaray aim to extend their lead in the Turkish Super Lig and defend their title.
In addition to his early-season success, Osimhen recently won the Turkish Super Lig Goal of the Week award, securing 77.96% of the votes for his impressive strike against Kasimpasa.
Despite a brief absence from the squad, the striker remains a fan favourite, with thousands of supporters welcoming him at Istanbul Airport when he arrived to complete his loan move.
With Osimhen set to return sooner than expected, Galatasaray fans are hopeful that the Nigeria forward will continue his fine form and lead the team to further victories in the coming weeks.
