Pillars set for CDS Independent Day Basketball Championship

Kano Pillars Basketball Club are set to showcase their talent at the first edition of the Chief of Defence Staff Independence Day Roundball Championship 2024, which commences on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

The objective of the championship, scheduled to hold at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is to foster both civil and military interagency cooperation toward the promotion of peace, unity, and sportsmanship amongst the Nigerian youths.

Also, the tournament offers participants a legitimate means of livelihood, as well as an opportunity to showcase their talent at the international stage and bring accolades to Nigeria.

The competition, which is the first of its kind, features 16 teams drawn from the six geopolitical zones of the country, namely, North-East, North-Central, North-West, South-East, South-South, and South-West. The teams are;  Gombe Bulls, Bauchi Net, Kwara Falcon, Niger Potters, Plateau Peaks, Kada Stars, and Kano Pillars.

Others are River Hoopers, Dodan Warriors, Novena Heartlanders, City Chief, Marktown Flyers, FCT Hardrocket, NSCDC, Gilali, and Armed Forces.

The tournament to be held at More Arena Zone 5 Abuja on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, will feature more than 300 players and officials within and outside the country.

Overall winners will smile home with N4m, the runners-up will pocket N2.5m, and the 3rd-place winners will go home with a consolation prize of N1.5m.

The Pyramid Basketball team is expected to depart Kano for Abuja on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
