Juventus are reportedly plotting to bring Victor Osimhen back to Serie A as they look to boost their attack next season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to Rai Sports’ football chief Paolo Paganini, the Turin giants have lost confidence in current frontman Dusan Vlahovic and are eyeing the Nigeria striker as a potential replacement.
Paganini revealed that Juventus do not consider Vlahovic to be at the same level as other top strikers in the Italian topflight like Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez or Osimhen during his time at Napoli.
“Juventus don’t have a top-level first striker,” Paganini stated.
“There are two names for Juventus’ attack. One is Jonathan David, the Lille centre forward, Canadian, so there is also the slot for non-EU players; his contract expires in 2025.
“The other is Osimhen, because it is true that he has the clause, but the relationships between Osimhen, his agent, and (Juve chief Cristiano) Giuntoli are very strong, so be careful because this summer there could be a sensational return.”
Osimhen, who currently plays for Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, has been in impressive form since his arrival in Istanbul earlier this month.
The 25-year-old provided crucial assists in his first two appearances for the Super Lig champions, including one in their 3-1 derby victory against Fenerbahce last Saturday.
The Nigeria international’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with English Premier League side Chelsea also reportedly monitoring his situation. The London club are said to be considering a move for him before the January transfer window, thanks to a break clause in his loan agreement with Galatasaray.
As the reigning CAF Player of the Year continues to impress in Turkey, Juventus will be weighing their options carefully. With Osimhen’s loan at Galatasaray set to run until the end of the season, any potential move would require careful negotiation with all parties involved.
For now, the former Lille player remains focused on his Galatasaray career, where he aims to help the club defend their Super Lig title and make an impact in the Europa League.
