According to Transfermarkt, Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has for the second time in three months seen his market value dropped, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Africa Men’s Footballer of The Year at the start of 2024 was valued at £130m but as Tuesday, the 25-year-old has a market value of £100m, the second drop this year.
Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in the 2020 summer for a club record fee of €70m plus another €10m in bonuses and after initial struggle in his first season his value dropped to €60m.
However, the Lagos-born striker saw his value rise astronomically to €130m after the 2022/23 season where he guided them to their first Scudetto title in over three decades.
He ended the campaign with 26 league goals and was named the league’s best striker.
After an underwhelming performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier this year where he managed to score just a goal, the former Wolfsburg player’s value reduced by £20m to drop to £110m.
In the latest financial updates by the reliable website that focused on transfers and players’ values, the Nigerian had suffered another €10m reduction and is now valued at €100m.
Despite the drop, Osimhen remains Napoli’s most valuable player and is followed by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia whose market value stands at £80m. In distant third is midfielder Stanislav Lobokta, who is valued at £28m.
In the national team, the Manchester United and Chelsea target is also the most valuable player with Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface sitting joint second with £40m valuations each.
Osimhen agreed a new contract with Napoli in December. Still, those terms only run until the summer of 2026, and there is reportedly a release clause of around £113m included in the agreement but according to several reports in Italy, Partenopei president Aurelio de Laurentiis has resigned himself to losing Osimhen and is willing to settle for a fee in the region of £84m.
That has not stopped top clubs from showing interest in the Lagos-born striker who has emerged as one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe having been linked with moves to Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Liverpool among others.
In a poor 2023/24 season where the Parthenopeans won only 13 games, lost 11 and drew 14, Osimhen still managed to pose a relatively good figure scoring 15 goals and providing three assists from 25 league appearances.
