Musa scores twice as Leicester lose to Barcelona

By Daily Sports on August 4, 2016

Nigeria international Ahmed Musa scored twice for his new English Premier League side, Leicester City, as they lost 2-4 to Spanish champions FC Barcelona in the International Champions Cup in Stockholm on Wednesday.

Musa was only playing his second game for the English champions and he showed promise of what to come with two well-taken goals against the Spanish side.

Munir El Haddadi put Barcelona ahead in the first half before Luis Suarez added a second in the 34th minute. Munir got his second just before the break as Barca ran riot over a poor Leicester side.

Musa’s introduction in the second half sparked a renaissance for the English side as he scored twice. His first was a fantastic solo goal from the halfway line nutmegging two Barca defenders before slotting home in the 48th minute.

The Super Eagles vice-captain profited from some calamitous Barca defending, collecting a pass from Jeffrey Schlupp and slamming into the top roof to reduce the deficit to 3-2.

Barca eventually made the game safe as 17-year-old Rafa Mujica scored six minutes before fulltime to give Barcelona a 4-2 win on the night.

With the Premier League kickoff a matter of days away, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri will be happy with his new acquisition from CSKA Moscow and will hope Musa replicates such form in the league for the English champions.
