Ronaldo preaches ‘unity’

By Daily Sports Nigeria on June 22, 2024

Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo has called for “unity and commitment” among his team-mates ahead of their upcoming Euros clash with Turkey.

After scraping past Czech Republic in their Euro 2024 opener, Ronaldo’s Portugal side take on Turkey – who beat Georgia 3-1 in a thrilling contest on Tuesday. Now, the 39-year-old has called on his team-mates to be ready for the Turks on Saturday.

Alongside posting multiple photos of Ronaldo and his team-mates appearing to be in high spirits in Portugal training, the Al-Nassr star wrote on Instagram: “Unity, Focus, and Commitment.”

Portugal and Turkey head into this game off the back of a win apiece, with victory for either side securing them a spot in the last 16 of the Euros. So, there is plenty to play for in this upcoming fixture, where Ronaldo may start up front again. The 39-year-old came in for criticism after Portugal’s opener but remains a key player for manager Roberto Martinez.

Following this clash at Westfalenstadion, Portugal – who won this tournament back in 2016 – will round off their group stage campaign against Georgia next Wednesday and Turkey will take on Czech Republic on the same day.
