Enyimba forward, Joseph Osadiaye has said the side title defence is still intact after the goalless draw against Sunshine Stars.
The People’s Elephant were forced to a barren draw by the Owena Waves in Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) rescheduled matchday 23 clash at the Gowon Yakubu Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Osadiaye said his side did everything possible to win the matchup but for the referee’s decision to disallow their two clean goals.
“Of course, we are on the right path to successfully defend our league title at the end of the on-going season.
“The title hope is quite on course despite the two successive home draws to Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars.
“We are confident to get it right in the remaining make-up matches as well as other matches on the calendar.
“We did everything possible to win the clash against Sunshine Stars but found ourselves in a difficult position to score two disallowed goals by the referee.
“Well we are still happy to pick a point in the clash it would have been worst to forfeit the whole three points.
“Of course, Sunshine Stars did not trouble us throughout the game I think they will be the happiest side going home with a point.
“I still believe that our title aspiration is very much alive nobody should lose sleep over it,” said the former Warri Wolves marksman to supersport.com.
The draw against Sunshine Stars takes Enyimba total earnings to 42 points six adrift league leaders and oriental neighbours, Enugu Rangers.
