Amusan, Harrison renew rivalry at adidas Atlanta City Games Saturday

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 15, 2024

Tobi Amusan will face off against Kendra Harrison in a highly anticipated women’s 100m hurdles at the 2024 Adidas Atlanta City Games on Saturday, May 28.

The 27-year-old Nigerian is set to return to the US for the race showcasing the two swiftest women in the event’s history, following her remarkable performance of 12.40secs at the 2024 Jamaican Athletics Invitational in Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday.

Amusan, the current world record holder with 12.12secs from her triumphant run in Eugene, Oregon in 2022, will contend against the former world record holder and the second fastest 100m hurdler ever at 12.20secs.

Amusan is not slacking in her desire to secure Olympic gold in Paris to complement the world 100m hurdles title she achieved in Oregon two years ago.

Despite Harrison holding a 17-7 advantage over Amusan in previous encounters, the Nigerian has emerged victorious in seven out of their last 10 confrontations.

Meanwhile, eight different international champions, including Olympic, world and European champions, will take to the tracks at the Adidas Atlanta City Games, according to organisers.

The event is North America’s only “street meet,” taking world-class track and field out of the traditional stadium and onto a temporary straightaway and into Atlanta’s Piedmont Park.
