Federation Cup: Insurance to face Wikki in round of 32

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 4, 2024

Defending champions Bendel Insurance have been drawn against fellow Nigeria Premier Football League campaigners Wikki Tourists in the President Federation Cup round of 32.

According to the fixtures released on Friday by the Nigeria Football Federation, Lobi Stars will take on former winners Shooting Stars Sports Club, who barely scraped through by the skin of their teeth, needing penalty shootouts to overcome Solution FC, while Plateau United and Sunshine Stars, two teams that made progress without kicking the ball, will be at each other’s jugular, being the three scintillating rounds of 32 pairings involving clubs in the Nigerian top flight.

The round is loaded with other interesting fixtures, with Gombe United trading tackles with the El-Kanemi Warriors, Doma United taking on the Kano Pillars in the flaming Savannah War, and NPFL title contender Enyimba facing ambitious FC One Rocke

Six-time winners Enugu Rangers were booted out at the very first hurdle, losing 5-6 on penalties to Kano Pillars following a 1-1 draw in regulation time at the Bwari Township Stadium, Abuja, on Thursday.

Two of the 64 fixtures yet to be decided will see Rivers United take on Ikukuoma FC of Imo in Aba, while Bayelsa United will do battle with Nasarawa State representatives FC Basira in Enugu.
