Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessres, is thrilled to have recorded a landmark goal for Glasgow Rangers in the Gers 2-1 win over St. Mirren at the SMISA Stadium on Sunday but maintains he wanted more from himself, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 29-year-old has come under scrutiny for his wastefulness in front of goal, but he put the noise behind him as he buried his 20th goal of the season – a second-half header in the 72nd minute to give Rangers a hard-fought 2-1 win at St Mirren to keep their Premiership title bid on track.
He also has eight assists in 49 games across all competitions.
Rangers broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute after Zach Hemming failed to deal with a cross before James Bolton inadvertently put the ball into his own goal, all thanks to the pressure from Dessers.
The home side levelled the scores just five minutes later through Mikael Mandron
Speaking on his landmark 20th goal, the former Cremonses striker told Sky Sports Scotland, “It’s clear that it’s a big goal, it’s an important goal.
“I think it’s one that we deserved seeing the shift we put in, but we knew it was going to be hard before we got here.
“If you told me I’d have scored 20 goals at the start of the season, I’d have taken it, but now I have a couple more assists, so for sure it feels good, but I want more than this.”
