No Faction In Lagos SWAN, Oladunni-led Executive Is Only Recognised Leader

By Daily Sports Nigeria on April 12, 2024

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Lagos chapter has reaffirmed its stand that no faction exists in the association in Lagos State as there is only one chairman in the person of Olatutu Oladunni, who had been elected and recognized by the national body of the SWAN in the country.

A show of shame played out at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos Thursday when the erstwhile chairman of the chapter, Debo Oshundun, called an illegal Congress purportedly scheduled to hold at the SWAN Secretariat by 12 noon.

A detachment of policemen from Area C Command was however on ground to ensure that the illegality which Oshundun and his co travellers hatched did not see the light of the day.

The Area Commander at Area C used his wisdom to invite Oshundun and his group to his Command at Barracks in Ojuelegba where Oshundun was put on the hot seat with some pertinent questions bordering on his legality to hold on to the chairmanship seat of Lagos SWAN.

To the dismay of the Police Commander, Oshundun and some of the "elders" who followed him to act the script of illegality were unable to satisfactorily answered the questions.

Oshundun, who claimed to be a member of an association, failed to produce his membership card of the association which he last renewed in 2018.

Oshundun, who also claimed to be the chairman of the association, was unable to produce the keys to the Secretariat of his association which he said he is leading.

The Area Commander was said to have been disappointed with Oshundun and the "elders" who joined him in orchestrating an illegal action that could bring more shame to them.

The Secretary of Lagos SWAN, Omotunde Bello who was at the meeting with the police narrated how Oshundun took the National SWAN and the Lagos SWAN to court but lost the case on the ground that he could not defend the authenticity and legality of his membership as he could not substantiate his claims in the court.

Bello disclosed further that the judgement of the court has been in the custody of relevant security agencies in the state.

He also revealed how Oshundun had to tendered a written apology to Olatutu Oladunni who he had defamed on public television. The apology letter, handwritten by him was done in the Office of the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State

Bello said that he was so disappointed with some elders and past chairmen of the chapter who he believes they should know better, rather they joined Oshundun in acting a script that now boomeranged on them all.

Bello emphatically stated that the impostors should beware as Olatutu Oladunni-led executive would not hesitate to apply all lawful means to bring any illegality to book in Lagos SWAN.

"There is an elected executive led by Olatutu Oladunni in place in Lagos SWAN. Henceforth, we won't tolerate any antics from any quarter. I will advise the impostors and their apologists to wait till the current executive's term expired.

"We are aware of what they are using the name of Lagos SWAN to swindle unsuspecting people and organizations in the state. The law will soon go after them because the Lagos SWAN has a name that we won't allow some selfish, greedy and self centered individuals to tarnish," Bello warned.

Oshundun was not alone in his journey to the Area C Police Command on Thursday. He was accompanied by some "elders" who included Niyi Oyeleke, Frank Ilaboya and Tony Ubani who were former chairmen of Lagos SWAN.

Others on the trip are Dapo Shotiminu, Tobexchukwu, Super Falcons Media Officer and two other individuals
