Inspector Justina Ama of Force Headquarters on Tuesday won gold and silver medals in the karate event of the ongoing 14th biennial Police Games tagged Oluyole 2024 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Ama won gold in the individual category and silver in the team category.

The elated Inspector, who had represented Nigeria at the African Games, said karate was a disciplined sport that helped to keep athletes psychologically, physically and emotionally fit.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson, Nigeria Police Netball Association, CSP Ololade Babatola, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to supporting netball in the country.

In the netball event, Zone 2 defeated Force Headquarters 5- 3, while Zone 11 lost 3-2 to Zone 17.

Speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, Ololade said, “Netball is back and we want to showcase it to the whole world in order for people to key into it. Although it is a female game, the males are now interested in playing it.

“With the talents that abound in the Nigeria Police, the country will benefit from it. I’m very sure this will form the bedrock of athletes that will win laurels for the country in international competitions.”
