AFCON: Nigeria stands united, beyond tribe, religion — Musa

By DailySports Nigeria on January 28, 2024

Captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa, has said Nigeria stands united beyond tribal and religious differences as the nation hunts for glory at the ongoing AFCON.

Musa stated this following the Super Eagles’ triumph over Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 on Saturday.

“Celebrating the Super Eagles’ journey to the AFCON quarter-finals – a testament to the power of unity on the football field. This picture shows the genuine happiness we all feel,” Musa said on Sunday via X after the 2-0 victory on Saturday.

Musa called on Nigerians to remember that “in the beautiful game, we stand united, transcending tribe and religion.”

He hoped the victory would “be a reminder that our strength lies in coming together.”

“Amidst the challenges our nation faces, let’s use the spirit of football to bridge divides and foster harmony,” the Super Eagles captain urged.

“It’s time to kick out the negativity, end the unnecessary killings, rivalry, and embrace the love that sports bring,” he said

Musa also implored Nigerians to “join hands for peace, goals, and a brighter future.”

With the win, the Super Eagles will now play Angola in the quarterfinals on February 2, as they hope to claim a fourth continental title after previous wins in 1980, 1994, and 2013.
