Bonny Nyong, now acting SWAN President

By Daily Sports Nigeria on January 12, 2024

Distinguished Members of the Full Council,
I bring you warm felicitations from the National Secretariat of SWAN.
Events of the recent past were capable of retarding the continuous development and growth of our Association. Proactively, 2/3 Members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) have successfully managed and addressed these challenges by relying on Article 15(c) and Article 23(a).
Consequently, in line with Article 23(d), the NEC has directed that I assume office as the President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), pending the determination of the infractions of the suspended President, Isaiah Benjamin against our statute, by the Independent Investigation Committee (IIC) as spelt out in Article 21(c) of the SWAN Statute.
I, Bonny Nyong, hereby accept this clarion call in obedience to our Statute and the book of authority that we swore to uphold, and the consciousness that such action is purely and entirely a NEC affair.
The 3-man Independent Investigation Committee (IIC) put in place for this task will be inaugurated tomorrow, Thursday, January 11 2024.
I urge all Council members to go about their statutory responsibilities and ensure that their actions are properly guided.
The National Secretariat is open Monday to Friday for the receipt of correspondence and the usual interface with the Zones and State Chapters. Plans are in top gear for a Full Council Meeting in Lagos immediately after the Afcon
We are determined to put our Association on a smooth and efficient pedestal.
I remain yours in service,
Bonny Nyong,
President, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN)
