ENUGU STATE END-OF-YEAR FOOTBALL TOURNEY GETS DATE

Organizers of the annual Enugu state End of the Year football tournament, meant to keep top executive, legislative, judiciary, permanent secretaries, and local government heads, have fixed Dec. 3, as the kickoff date for the tournament.

The Director, organizing in Enugu State Ministry of Youth & Sports, Bonny Onovo, revealed this in an exclusive chat, on Tuesday.

 He said that the State Executive Council will trade tackles with the Local Government Chairmen in the opening encounter of the tournament.

Enugu State Government sponsors the tournament with Gov. Peter Mbah donating the giant trophy that will be competed for by the registered teams, as Jan. 28, 2024, has been picked for the championship-deciding match.

“We are expecting perfect competition from the five participating teams in the tournament that was put together to assist our government functionaries in having a place to exercise the body and mind. 

"This is the second edition and we are expecting a much-improved competition from both players and officials. I thank the state governor for making approvals to kick start the yearly tournament just as we cannot forget the positive roles played by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu, towards the success of the tournament,” Onovo added.

He said that matches in the competition will occur at the Rangers Stadium, Liberty Estate, Independence Layout, Enugu.
