Boniface on radar of top European clubs

By Daily Sports Nigeria on November 23, 2023

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has said that Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, is the most sought-after striker among clubs in the Top 5 leagues in Europe, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen for €20m from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise last transfer window but has blossomed into one of the most dreaded strikers in Europe.

His impressive tally of seven goals and five assists in 11 Bundesliga games have seen him pick up the league’s Player of The Month and Rookie of The Month awards for August, September and October while also earning nominations for best player of the month in September.

As per the stats released in the middle of September, the Nigerian also holds the record for the most shots in the Bundesliga this season.

The 22-year-old striker has been instrumental to Die Werkself’s impressive start to the 2023/24 season as they currently sit top of the Bundesliga table after 11 match days.

Before the international break – the third of the current season- Boniface was the fourth player in Europe’s Top 5 leagues with the most goal contributions only behind Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy,  who are first, second and third respectively

His impressive statistics for goal contributions is only bettered by Kane, who has 28 goal contributions (21 goals and seven assists), Haaland with 21 (17 goals and four assists) and Guirassy, who also boasts an impressive 18 goal contributions (16 goals and two assists).

The Akure-born striker is currently Bundesliga’s sixth top scorer for the 2023/24 season with seven goals in 11 games, behind Kane (17), VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy (15), RB Leipzig’s Loïs Openda (9), VfL Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind and Leroy Sane, who are both on eight goals.

It is, therefore, not surprising that Boniface, according to Romano is the most sought-after striker in Europe.

“Top clubs from different countries are keeping a close eye on Victor Boniface, doing fantastic at Leverkusen,” the transfer expert wrote.

“He won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award three times in a row. Top impact.”

Newcastle, Real Madrid and Liverpool are some of the clubs that have reportedly placed the youngster on their wish list.
