Oshoba headlines Nov 25 title fights

By Daily Sports Nigeria on November 21, 2023

Elizabeth Oshoba, 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist, and two other Nigerian boxers are set for significant title clashes on the international stage on Saturday, November 25, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Oshoba boasting an unblemished record of five wins, including three knockouts, will face undefeated British pugilist Amy Andrew (4-0-0-0KOs) in a showdown for the vacant Commonwealth women’s featherweight title at MECA, Regent Circus in Swindon, United Kingdom.

The Nigerian-born recently defeated Italian Nadia Flalhi (6-3-1-1KOs) on points in a six-round featherweight clash September 30 and is now headed to her first professional title fight just one year after she left the amateurs following great success at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.

In March, Oshoba defeated Kirsty Hill 58-56 to qualify for the final round of the eliminator bout which will makes this her third fight in 10 months. She is, however, not concerned by the schedule of her fights.

“I am not worried that it is so close to my last fight. Yes, I fought last month and some may think the fight is too soon but I am happy to get this chance and I believe I will win,” she told PUNCH Sports Extra in October.

On the same card in Swindon, Oluwatosin Kejawa (9-0-0-5KOs) will engage in a battle for the vacant WBC Africa light-heavyweight title against Tanzanian Abdul Ubaya (6-2-0-3KOs).

Meanwhile, Rilwan ‘Real Show boy’ Lawal, the unbeaten ABU champion with a remarkable track record of 17 victories, 13 of which came by way of knockout, will go head-to-head against Tanzanian boxer Loren Japhet (16-6-3-4KOs) in an intense 8-round International Super-featherweight bout.

The action-packed clash is set to unfold on the undercard of Lady in Red promotions in Arusha, Tanzania.

The boxing world eagerly awaits the outcome of these thrilling encounters, showcasing the determination and skill of these talented Nigerian boxers on an international platform as Oshoba and Kejawa aim to claim their first titles.
