Nasarawa United head coach, Kabir Dogo is a happy man after his side claimed their first point on the road in the four-goal thriller at newcomers, Ikorodu United.
The Solid Miners were held to 2-2 draw by hosts, Ikorodu United in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 28 clash at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
The Oga Boys went in front through danger man, Paul Duke in the 36th minute but the Lafia outfit top striker, Abdulrahman Bashir even scores in the 46th minute.
The Lagos outfit went in front again in the 60th minute off the foot of Oluwole Balogun Johnson however it was the former Lobi Stars strongman, Samson Gbadebo who cut short the ovation that greeted Ikorodu United goal just four minutes to hand his side their first away point in the on-going top-flight.
Dogo said the away point will restore more self-confidence in his wards to finish the campaigns high in subsequent matches and the Federation Cup.
“Of course, I’m really happy with the draw as well as our first point on the road in the on-going league season.
“Actually, our match plan is to claim the whole three points at stake but the 2-2 draw is not a bad result.
“The away point will certainly serve as morale boost for us in other matches as well as the Federation Cup.
“We have come close severally in the past to earn a decent result on the road but came out worst at each occasion.
“I’m happy the players played quite well to earn the draw it will instil some believe in them to push harder in other matches.
“I strongly believe we are on course to finish the season’s campaign on high with more inspiring result like the one at Ikorodu United.
“Ikorodu United, too are good side despite their poor form on the league table, they are good and actually gave us some scary moments,” said the former ABS coach to supersport.com.
The hard fought point at Ikorodu United has taken the Lafia-based side total earnings to 37 points 10 behind league leaders, Wikki Tourists.
