Arise TV Hosts Lagos SWAN Executive

By Victor Enyinnaya on November 8, 2023

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos chapter, has commended the management for changing the face of broadcast journalism in the country and for its tremendous support of the activities of the association in the state.

Olatutu Oladunni recently led executive Committee and some members of the association on a courtesy call to Arise TV station on Awolowo Road ikoyi, Lagos Island where they were received by the Deputy Managing Director Mr. Emmanuel Efeni,, who was so excited to receive the executive of the Lagos SWAN in his office.

According to Oladunni, it is important to know that the role of media in society cannot be underestimated, quantified nor underrated as they continue to be the mouthpiece of the governed to the government.

She informed her host that Lagos SWAN launched the maiden edition of a workshop symposium on advocacy against use of illicit substances, narcotics, drug abuse and trafficking in September 2023, in a formal partnership with some reputable government agencies like NDLEA, NAFDAC, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Sports Development, Lagos State Football Association, National Anti-Doping Agency and Arise TV, which is the official media partner of the event.

The success of the symposium, which was held at GRA, Ikeja, Lagos with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) playing a major lead role, cannot be achieved without the laudable support of the media and the role played by Arise Television and also Nigerian Breweries cannot be underestimated. Nigerian Breweries supported the event with one of its major healthy malt drink, Amstel and Maltina.

"The testimonies of this achievement can be associated with Arise TV, as the television station displayed an outstanding level of professionalism, especially in the area of sports news dissemination," Oladunni said.

She revealed that honour was accorded to some institutions and agencies which partnered with Lagos SWAN such as the NDLEA, NAFDAC, Arise TV and others. They were honoured with meritorious service awards.

The chairman expressed her utmost gratitude to the entire management of AriseTV,  board of directors and production team, adding that the TV station has played a significant role across boards most especially the support given to the activities of sports sector which Lagos SWAN has enjoyed the benevolence since the new executive was in place.

The Arise TV Deputy Managing Director, while welcoming his visitors, said the station was founded with the aim of changing the narrative in broadcast journalism, an international television news channel reporting on major global news with a strong focus on Africa.

He assured Lagos SWAN executive that Arise TV would continue to support all activities of the association and sports in general.

He noted further that the station is highly impressed with the laudable achievements of Lagos SWAN and the inspiring activities they have been doing in the last one and half years. He expressed his gratitude for the meritorious service award and noted that this will motivate the station to do more.

"We appreciate Lagos SWAN once again and we hope to intensify the smoother synergy established between the two institutions,"  Efeni said.
