Peseiro rules Chukwueze out of Lesotho, Zimbabwe clashes

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has confirmed that the duo Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen will not be part of next week’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Nigeria will take on Lesotho November 16 in the first game of the qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo before facing Zimbabwe at the Huye Stadium in Butare, Rwanda three days later.

While it was almost that Osimhen, who picked up an injury during Nigeria’s friendly game against Saudi Arabia last month, would not be available for the World Cup qualifiers, Chukwueze was almost certain of winning his fitness battle for the games after AC Milan coach on Friday during his pre-match conference ahead of their fixture against Udinese on Saturday said the Nigerian could be in selection for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

“Loftus-Cheek is well and will be there, Pulisic as a precaution won’t be there tomorrow but will be with PSG, as will Chukwueze. Kjaer has a good chance for Tuesday,” Pioli said.

Meanwhile, Peseiro in a chat with TV Play said he won’t be inviting both players for the World Cup qualifiers.

“Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen will not be called up during the next break; we want to avoid any risks,” Peseiro told TV Play, as per Milan Reports.

“I was very sorry for their injuries: the clubs pay the players, and we constantly collaborate with them.”
