Ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifier games against Lesotho and Mozambique, Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has been handed a major boost after it was confirmed that AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze will be available for selection, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Chukwueze sustained an injury in October while playing for Nigeria in an international friendly match against Saudi Arabia in Portugal.
However, it appears the winger has now recovered from the injury and will be back next week for AC Milan’s Champions League clash against French giants Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
AC Milan coach, Stephan Pioli, revealed this during his pre-match conference on Friday ahead of their fixture against Udinese on Saturday.
“Loftus-Cheek is well and will be there, Pulisic as a precaution won’t be there tomorrow but will be with PSG, as will Chukwueze. Kjaer has a good chance for Tuesday,” Pioli said.
The AC Milan medical department had previously stated that Chukwueze would make his comeback against Udinese but have now confirmed that the Nigeria international would be available for the UCL match against PSG next week.
This recovery news is a welcome development for AC Milan but also holds considerable importance for Super Eagles coach Peseiro as he prepares his team for the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Nigeria commence their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho on November 17 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo before making the trip to the Huye Stadium on November 19 for their away test against Zimbabwe.
