Boxing: Rasheed floors Ojukwu

By Daily Sports Nigeria on October 31, 2023

Idowu Rasheed knocked out George Ojukwu to claim the Heritage Boxing Entertainment light-heavyweight title at the FHA field in Festac Town, Lagos on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Rasheed sent Ojukwu to the floor in round two of their six-round bout after earlier dropping his opponent in the first round as he claimed the TKO win.

Members of Francis Aiyegbeni Boxing Gym, where Rasheed trains, were present to support the boxer as he was honoured with the HBE title.

This result sees the 24-year-old bounce back from his defeat to national light-heavyweight champion Muibi Lekan May 28. Rasheed suffered a KO loss of his own to Lekan at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.

That means that all six of Rasheed’s professional bouts have ended in knockouts with wins in five of them and only one loss in his career.

Chinedu Okeke also secured a win through a first-round knockout over Adebayo Tianiyu in their national light-heavyweight challenge bout.

In another light-heavyweight challenge fight, Obasa Esadajaye, also won by knockout, sending the bigger David Adeyemi sprawling 44 seconds into the second round of the bout.
