‘Simon best version of himself’

By Daily Sports Nigeria on October 9, 2023

Pierre Ménès, a French football commentator, analyst and presenter was full of praise for Nigeria international, Moses Simon, following the winger’s resurgence this season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Simon has been in brilliant form for Nantes since the start of 2023/24 season, scoring two goals and providing four assists after just eight games played in the Ligue 1.

The Nigerian’s performance so far this season is in contrast with his form last campaign where he struggled to make any impact providing just four assists in the whole season, having just one goal contribution in his last 14 league games in 2022/23.

With the season barely halfway, Simon is on the verge of equalling his nine-goal contributions (five goals and four assists) from last season and the French Ligue 1 expert has showered praise on the Nigerian for his bright start to the season.

“It was a very, very good team from Nantes! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the Canaries offer such coherent, attractive play with a player, Moses Simon, who experienced a terrible eclipse last year but who has become himself again. Who is perhaps even the best version of himself this season,” Ménès was quoted as saying by butfootballclub.fr.

Ménès notably noted the involvement of the Nigerian in the two goals and his considerable influence in the recovery of FC Nantes since the 3rd day and the draw against AS Monaco (3-3).

The 28-year-old’s contract is due to expire June next year and will be free to discuss terms with other suitors in January. It remains to be seen if his quick turnaround in form is enough to convince Nantes to offer him a contract extension.
