NYG: Anambra Rakes Wins Gold, Silver Medals

Anambra team to the 7th National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, the Delta state capital has begun their medal haul with five medals.

The team won two gold medals through Chibuikem Oranye in Taekwondo poomsae single and Chibuikem Oranye Ogechi and Elechi in the team event respectively.

Anambra also finished second in female Rugby to cart home a silver medal while Ethel Jimoh won the second silver in Gymnastics Vault event.

Elechi who had earlier won gold in Taekwondo Poomsae team event closed the medal haul of the day with a bronze in individual Poomsae.

Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission commended the team for their competitive spirit and feat at the games so far.

Onyedum said the youthful team had shown promise and that more gold would come to Anambra as the competition entered advanced stage.
