Delta state, host of the 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) has taken lead in medals table.
Team Delta led the pack with 9 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze. Lagos followed closely with 8 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze, while Team Bayelsa was in third place with 5 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze, as at three days into the games.
The contest got keener as athletics commence Tuesday afternoon at the main bowl of the Stephen Keshi International Stadium.
Delta appears to be the best-prepared state and registered the highest number of athletes for the games taking place at various venues across Asaba, the state’s capital.
The athletes were the cynosure of all eyes at the opening ceremony inside the Stephen Stadium on Saturday, as they held everyone spellbound with their colourful attire with unwavering confidence.
