Anambra state gets beach soccer association board

The Beach Soccer Association board of Anambra state has been inaugurated.

The board is led by Prof. Victor Madubuko with Hon. Chukwudi Orizu as Vice Chairman and Hon. Emmanuel Nsoedo, former  Commissioner for Youth and Sports as Secretary General.

Others are Kingsley Nwagba doubles as Coach /Technical Director, Okwudili Emmanuel as Media Officer, Prisca Ogugua as Welfare Officer and Chukwuka Fidelis as Assistant coach.

Dr. Sunday Okayi, a FIFA instructor who administered oath of office to the new board urged them to have passion about the game so as to discharge their duties effectively

"This will lead you to the hallmark of the sport and efforts achievable," he said.

Okayi called on the identified females and males who have shown interest in the beach soccer to be committed as sky is their limited.

In a remark by Mr Victor Kadiri, a representative of Nigeria Beach Soccer League, assured the new state board of the national body full support to fast track the development of Beach soccer in Anambra and Nigeria in general.

"We will give you the required boost from today to ensure that the zeal shown in beach soccer is realisable," he said.

Chairman of the Anambra State  Beach Soccer, Prof. Victor Madubuko assured that with the  believes and love for the game that the capable hands were selected as board members.

"With them we are ready to go to  achieve greatly," the America-based scholar, businessman mogul and a player of beach soccer said.

He said that the board would take  Beach Soccer development to both primary and secondary levels in the state especially for the female categories, promising not to disappoint.

He urged the youths interested in the sport to avail themselves of the opportunities, adding that the board will work assiduously to give them required supports.

"You have opportunities to excel in both local and international competitions and still pursue your education career because we are ready to give the boost,' Madubuko assured.

Nothing that the state have no big rivers or beaches for the game, he said he was aware of it, but adequate arrangements are being made to that directions.

"Interested players should not worry about facilities for the sport because the board have capable hands to get things done appropriately,' he said.

According to him, the board had also assembled female beach soccer players, the first of its kind in the country. It shows our seriousness in the sport.

Hon. Emmanuel Nsoedo, Secretary General of the board said the new sport in the state would go places because already the state government through the Sport Development Commission has given its blessings with full supports.

 "All we want is assurances from interested players that they are as committed as us in this journey to the sport to the highest level," he said

Nigeria Beach Soccer League through Dr Sunday Okayi held an extensive seminar for the players , coaches and referees on the basics of beach soccer and derivable benefits.

The Capacity Building Seminar on Beach Soccer Development in Nigeria and Exhibition Game with theme "Beach Soccer A New Vista for Youth Development" was apt for the participants.
