Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze’s much-anticipated move to Milan is nearly done as the Italian giants have successfully concluded negotiations with Villarreal and the Nigeria international is expected to fly to Milano for his medicals on Wednesday.
According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Chukwueze is flying to Milano on Wednesday to complete his move to the Rossoneri.
Sky Sport Italia reports that the deal is all but finalized, with only minor administrative formalities remaining to be resolved within the next few hours.
Milan are set to confirm the signing of Chukwueze soon and he will become the seventh player that Milan have signed this summer.
He will be the fifth of those seven that the club have spent a transfer fee on. The first payment will be €20m, and then there is another €8m of bonuses.
After completing his medical on Wednesday, Chukwueze will sign a five-year contract with the Serie A side which will see him earn €4m per season.
Chukwueze’s current contract with Villarreal was due to expire at the end of the ongoing season, adding further motivation to finalize the deal swiftly.
As excitement builds within the Milan fan base, all eyes are now on the official announcement, eagerly awaiting Chukwueze’s debut in the iconic red and black jersey.
Milan have been in the market for a new right winger this summer and Chukwueze has always been the first choice, given he amassed 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season for the Yellow Submarine.
As reported by TMW, Chukwueze will officially join Milan this week but will not head to the US to join the squad for the pre-season tour.
The reasons are mostly bureaucratic, due to the difficulties of obtaining the necessary permits for him as a non-EU player to join his teammates in such a short span of time.
As such, Chukwueze will start training at Milanello, waiting for Pioli and his players to return to Italy on August 2.
The Rossoneri arrived on the west coast of the United States on July 21, where they’ll stay until August 2. The club faced Real Madrid in a friendly on July 23, which they lost 3-2, and are scheduled to face Juventus on July 27 and Barcelona on August 1.
