As Nigeria Slides, We Await The Judiciary As Last Hope?

By Victor Enyinnaya on July 17, 2023

You see, commentators are like short of words in analyzing anything Nigeria because her problems most self-inflicted can safely be described as recurring decimal, a metaphor etc.

As a journalist of many fruitful years standing and as such haven covered many local and international events I make bold to say that Nigeria is steadily going down the ladder as the clock ticks. The present ongoing settlements to some handpicked government agencies to curry their favour would remain an ill wind that would blow nobody any good because selfishness and long desired appetite for power/ambition while the country is fading out by the seconds is definitely not the way to go.

That is same old mistakes or styles. Nobody cares a hoot so far the tribe of the man at the helm and his boys are having field day and attack dogs stationed both in strategic and non-strategic areas to ensure they wall off anybody they perceived as an “intruder.”

As Nigeria drifts the man at the centre of the whole anomaly would be deceived that he is bidding and also doing the will of the people.

That is the way Nigeria is now structured. Once you get in there any how you do it, you ensure you rally the worst of your tribes men around yourself. Buhari instituted it and Bola Tinubu has continued from where he stopped now doing everything possible to ‘defend’ even with threat of chaos, the widely known stolen mandate as Nigeria and Nigerians rot away gradually.

Expectedly many are already stationed to be clapping uncontrollably for him while his propagandists were so busy dishing out half-truths and at the same time defending the absurdities as the most ever ‘good’ thing to happen to Nigerians.

That exactly is how Nigeria is being governed presently. To them everything is in place. Nigerians are getting the fruits of democracy not seen during Buhari’s locust of 8 years.  To objective keen watchers of Nigerian governance, nothing, absolutely nothing has changed rather it has even become worse than the past 8 years.

The rubber stamped national assembly witnessed during Buhari’s second tenure has been extended. Nothing has gone to both chambers and different voice is heard. It was deliberately designed and anybody that knows the antecedents of President Tinubu and Akpabio would agree that this design currently playing out was the target hence every frantic effort was made to ensure the present leadership of the national assembly was forced against the will of Nigerians.

You will not be too far/wrong to vividly capture it thus “the assemblage of those that looted their states and by extension Nigeria since the ‘democratic’ looting returned to Nigeria in 1999. We all saw how the so called national assembly shared the billions Tinubu told the world that it will be for palliatives to cushion the sufferings of his hard/hash economic policy on the citizenry since May 29 he came in.

National assembly apportioned walloping 70 billion Naira to themselves, gave the National Judicial Commission 35 billion Naira in time like this. However, only God knows how much that was given to the armed forces high command that have been roundly nourished of late to maintain ‘siddion’ look stance as we have seen since Buhari sad era. Their so called poor of the poorest, another nonsense phrase from that inglorious Buhari despotic regime will get mere 8k a Month, huge insult because they are defenseless and hold nothing at stake to injure this obvious replica of the last Buhari directionless government..

Meanwhile Nigeria as an entity and her people are steadily diminishing every seconds, minutes on and on.  The citizens are relegated to the background and trampled upon.  The terrain is so hard to live in. It was usually the survival of the fittest in Nigeria but now no fittest any longer. Sooner than later, corpse of Nigerians may start to litter on the streets cum roads, God forbid!.

To put it mildly, hail is being let loose on ordinary Nigerians. Nigerians are held hostage again after Buhari’s wasteful and repressive eight years. Come to think of it, in decent climes how would such political party that brought nothing but misery to Nigerians and placed the country  as the poverty capital of the world be allowed to continue in office thus far. Who did this to Nigeria?  While Nigeria is on state of collapse is this patch- patch measures the very solution?  How did we enter this ‘one chance’ again?  God have mercy!

Much deceitful acts are ongoing underground. Where such presence would lead the entire populace to; remains a moot point to even the international community.  Nigeria is in perpetual bad light before the international audience.

Nigeria is seen out there as one that holds herself down the ladder.  Since February 25, Yakubu Mahmoud and his INEC roped the country into this vicious circle of witches and wizards the whole hell is let loosed on the country.

In a country where the sing-song is looting, where then lies the refuge of such battered citizens. A country where daily living is not sure or even corruption ridden then where is the hope.  So as the country slides, can the Judiciary often touted as the last hope for the down trodden come handy to remedy this situation?  Despite all the juicy banters being thrown at it by the Bola Tinubu led executive arm of this alleged temporary government?

As the country rumbles, we will keep watching keenly amid cautiousness. Keep shooting hard till next week. Meanwhile, we wait!!
