…As Nigeria Inaugurates Her 16th President, Many Questions Than Answers Still Rising

By Victor Enyinnaya on May 29, 2023

Despite the hue and cry prevailing in the landscape of Nigeria over the February 25, Presidential election result currently in Presidential tribunal Court, what is happening today is fully backed by the Nigerian constitution which is supreme, the inauguration of the 16th President of Nigeria is presently ongoing in Abuja.

No doubt the fireworks would resume from the camps all in the bid to prove to the presiding tribunal Judges the merits or otherwise of Bola Tinubu’s Presidency.  It must be put in proper perspective that this Presidency is still standing with one leg until its legitimacy or otherwise is confirmed by the Supreme Court in six, seven Months time.

That is the long Nigerians would have to wait for the pronouncement by the highest Court in the land which most Nigerians take with pinch of salt. If what has played out so far is anything to rely upon, Nigeria is never one country as it is claimed to be.  Sadly, Buhari and APC stole Nigeria dry and was not ashamed celebrating their failure as huge success.

Buhari came and vandalized Nigeria and went away with his cohorts and loots unhurt.  He came, saw and woefully failed. It was an all round below performance for the deceitful Buhari who used the nation’s resources to rehabilitate himself financially, health wise and sundry, he ensured the February 25, Presidential election was rigged in favour of his APC party making real, though temporary his vow of not being alive to see Igbo man ascends to the highest office in the land. You can imagine Buhari’s silly attitude to the sensitivity of a plural country like Nigeria when he alleged that he left Nigeria better than he met it. You can see his hypocrisy and arrogance after punishing the entire country with impunity, a dirty slap on Nigerians’ faces.  It is only in this country that bunch of looters will gather themselves to loot the national treasury and quietly go away unharrassed.

You can vividly deduce that Both Buhari, APC and Bola Tinubu were culprits’ in chief against Ndigbo before, during and after the 2023 Presidential election. The possibility of Nigeria’s continued co-exist must be clearly redefined to holistically embrace all the components that made up the country from beginning. The Court whose shoulder this lies must brace up decisively and not only hit the nail on the head but also call a spade by its core name if there must be an end to election fraud in the country which would  serve as an antidote for great, productive, transparent and  open governance etc.  Nigeria cannot be led by a questionable leadership with alleged many baggages.

Much await Nigeria as we move forward or backwards. Buhari came and destroyed the country and people clapped for him. What Buhari left behind after eight wasteful years of self enrichments.  Ethnic profiling and other divisive instincts reached feverish height during Buhari’s despotic regime.  Let me say that this week’s write up is not devoted to politics of deceit of this mere geographical expression called Nigeria.

As multi purpose newspaper, we collectively took sometime off from sports and focused on the entire country and we have seen where we are today still in an endless vicious circle. Let us crave to say how sports arena has fared for long. Though, one cannot in anyway divorce the wrong signals in the polity.

Sports have limped seriously and nothing changed significantly as such rather it declines and decayed like the entire Nigeria. What have sustained sports are individual efforts while team sports like some of our national teams failed woefully to qualify from African has come and gone who knows as Bola qualifiers.

It has been a mixed grill.  We have seen how the Super Eagles technical hand, Portuguese Jose is piloting the team’s affairs so far.  I would not border on that much because you get the kind of result based on quality of product or otherwise you have. Truth is that Super Eagles team is fast declining in every facet.

Now that his contract has long expired, this is the time for NFF high command led by its President to sit down and think out way forward to evolve solid technical crew that will give the flagship team of the country a new lease of life henceforth. The last regime of Amaju Pinnick was known for its arrogance and impunity in doing things, it was the major reason why football took back sit during his years of waste in NFF.

Jose has no capacity to handle the Super Eagles. His technical and tactical formation are always faulty as many games he led the team clearly showed. It is currently on the hands of the NFF executive committee to empower its technical committee to open the window and hire new sound technical hand for the Eagles, no more second handed coach for the team.

The problems facing Nigeria’s sports are legion. Sunday Dare was an experiment during his tenure as Sports Minister and may be reappointed as one of confirmed Bola Tinubu boys.  Sports fared badly in Buhari’s nonsense directionless regime of sorrows, deprivation and other ugly trends that came to close today, May 29, 2023, being a monumental disaster for Nigeria.  Nigeria is a pitiable lot today before the comity of nations, nothing absolutely worked, as he and his cohorts turned the entire country’s treasury upside down. When you critically look at it from that angle you would agree with many objective analysts that APC has no business winning any election in Nigeria in a free, fair and transparent election at any level without active collaboration with INEC which happened in February 25, Presidential election, but look at how celebrations are going on as if all is well, “Cry the beloved country”.

Only the Court can stop bad governance and election fraud in Nigeria if it handles diligently the impending   case before it. I digress.

Flying Eagles are out there trying to patch-patch to see how far players’ determination and luck would take them.  The game no doubt has reached crunchy stage and only the fittest would keep their flags flying.  No more hiding place for pretenders, football is a beautiful game, where the best technical bench turns out killer strategies to propel their teams. The other name of the sport is thinking like quick silver. A technical hand that reads games and prompts superior match plans which would hit his opponent like a thunderbolt is needed for the Flying Eagles.  And without any prejudice the ream may have reached its limit and no more luck in this slippery stage where imaginative displays and superior match plan rules the round of sixteen (16).

Flying Eagles will be home ward bound after their game in this round, because football is not played by fire brigade preparations. Note that you cannot give what you do not have.  The sorry state Buhari and his visionless gangsters brought sports is better imagined than described, there was looting galore as the administration lasted.  Nigeria is bleeding so profusely due to misgovernance; directionless, excessive borrowing that has left the country in comatose presently.

Discussing Nigeria’s helplessness would remain nightmare to the citizenry. Remembering the damage Buhari and APC have done to the country must serve as food for thought. This sad situation they plugged Nigeria into would forever linger on, as the dark shot would ever remain poisonous.

The task then lies with both the Presidential Court and the Supreme Court to finally put a death nail on this every four years charade which has become part and parcel of the country wasting huge resources in billions to enrich few Nigerians in INEC.   Last line, until the likes of Mike Igani are appointed to head INEC, this rat race of the highest manipulator of Presidential election bracing the tape won’t stop.

Mike Igani and his likes have proved that INEC can work and deliver credible, fair, free and transparent elections to Nigerians where their votes would count. All eyes are on the Courts to restore sanity and do the needful for the true winner of the Presidential election accordingly.

We will keep watching closely but keep shooting hard till next week. Meanwhile we wait!!
