Enter Gov. Adeleke, As Nigerians Await Verdict From The Tribunal for Presidential Poll

By Victor Enyinnaya on May 16, 2023

Nigerians and by extension, the unsuspecting international community truly anticipated best ever held election in the country turned out to be the worst in the history of Presidential elections in the country.

It would be recalled that the poll was roundly condemned by even international observers who spoke in near unionism of the way and manner INEC failed woefully to follow its set rules in the electoral law of the country.

The echoes of that wasted exercise of huge human and financial resources are still on very high tempo in all the nooks and crannies of the country today. As it presently goes on, one will leave it at that as the case is already before the Court.

Last week the Osun gubernatorial election tussle finally came to an end as the Supreme Court reaffirmed the election that brought Governor Ademola Adeleke of Peoples Democratic Party to the exalted seat in the State.

We in this medium extend our congratulatory message to the very likeable and lively governor of Osun State who has brought back governance to the people of that State and the faces of the people are brighter today than the last four years of Oyetola’s governance, the usual way of any APC government.

Ademola Adeleke within the short space of time is now synonymous with the people generally. His affection with the once upon a time gloomy faces of State civil servants is evident. He has cleared the backlog of many Months’ salaries of the people and other arrears including pensions and sundry.  The State is back on track and now the Governor is settled down for governance. It will pay off handsomely as the governor looks set to ensure equal opportunities for all haven emphatically declared that there is no victor or vanquished after that landmark Supreme Court judgment last week Tuesday.

Ademola Adeleke seem to have a good heart. In short, it’s inbuilt in the family. That family from Ede in Osun State has touched lives not minding where you come from.  Their generosity is legion and they have displayed such in no little means. he will replicate great, open governance and the Osun people would be the best for it. Again going for the people’s governor is the peaceful atmosphere currently existing in the State PDP. The State executive of the party would in their wisdom go looking for those loyal members who left the party which they helped to build before, during and after the guber party primaries, let them see the reason why they should come back and participate without let or hindrance in the governance of this Ademola Adeleke’s all-inclusive and all-embracing  regime of reconstruction and refocusing of Osun State since the PDP dubiously lost the State to lying APC regime of doom in the State and the entire country thus far.

PDP must come together to consolidate its grip of Osun State which no doubt and rightly must be safe to be ascribed as PDP State. Keen political watchers would agree that the way and manner the umbrella party lost Osun State to the locust APC can only be imagined than described as later day events vividly showed.

Governor Ademola Adeleke is jolly good, great fellow of note and has brought such goodwill into governance thus far. For instance Osun civil servants, the retirees and sundry are currently attesting the right choice of going the PDP and Governor Adeleke way. He has spiced governance with entertainment.

For the records, before I dropped the anchor on the lively Osun State Governor, I had met him at least five times when he was a ‘nobody’ but of course one of the sons of the prominent Adeleke family. He was not a politician then but a personable fellow. His late brother, Ishaku Adeleke who was also a man of the people, a governor and a Senator dwarfed his siblings.

This columnist has no doubt Governor Ademola Adeleke will perform creditably for the good of Osun people even on this yoke of heavy debt the State is into currently. His economic team is made up of men and women of means, brain, acumen, hardworking etc that would turn the economy of Osun State round at the end of the day.

As it is, Bola Tinubu will mount the saddle come May 29.  That is how the constitution loop holed it, while the cases are in the tribunal Court in Abuja. The constitution or electoral act did not provide that all cases must be concluded before inauguration. Therefore it will come on schedule and not the empty and usual threat by Alkali the IGP was seen threatening the other day.

I don’t think his threat holds water as many Nigerians are daily killed all over the country  including his men but see the way he was issuing their usual threats on innocent and law abiding citizens who may want to express their fundamental rights of freedom of speech and procession. Alkali turns the other way while the so called unknown gun men massacre the citizenry every day.

Presidential election of February 25 was rigged under the watchful eyes of IGP Alkali and his men.  In short,    they, Nigeria Police was seen on videos aiding and abating the rigging of 2023 elections and the same IGP without any recourse to tomorrow has the courage to issue threat to the citizenry he connived with the ruling APC high command to deprive the teeming youths that came out in their overwhelming populace to vote for their choice and preferred candidate.

Though, IGP’s statement blew more hot air than what it may have intended to achieve. He merely served his masters than hitting the desired target they may have anticipated to achieve. Enough of this intimidation and arrogance by people paid from Nigeria tax payers money. Also there is no how you beat a child and at the same time emphatically told him not to cry. It is shame of Nigeria. Youths of any nation remains supreme. No threat except from God will stop the revolution whose time has come. Nigeria is a rotten country the way it is, no doubt, democracy is on trial here. The school of thought  saying that system of government is kicking and well is making mockery of themselves and their children who are all abroad schooling and working leaving majority of Nigerians in limbo.  The likes of Ibrahim Gambari are up again in deceitful act and we knew where he is coming from as an establishment man.

The above brings aptly one of Fela’s popular tunes “Beast of No Nation”. The entire world is keenly watching with utmost interest as the Court itself is currently on trial.   How the Court will determine this Presidential election petition case before it. How the Court will interpret the intriguing issue of 25% in FCT amongst other flaws Mahmood and APC conjured to give itself ‘victory’.

The Court APC and her agents are boasting with “go to Court” will make or mar what is left of Nigeria. We cannot continue this way. Every section of the country ought to be equal stakeholders in her affairs.  No section must, repeat must be seen as playing second fiddle. That won’t be the same this time.

As we wait for the Courts and the judges to ensure they redeem their images and call the bluff of these corrupt politicians, we must continue to be shooting hard till next week.

Meanwhile we wait!!
