NWFL: Olowookere eyes upset against champions

Naija Ratels head coach Bankole Olowookere says his team cause an upset against Bayelsa Queens as the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership ends on Wednesday  (today), The PUNCH reports.

The defending champions host the Abuja-based club at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa in one of the six fixtures of the abridged league.

After 11 games played, Bayelsa Queens are second in Group A with 22 points and have booked a ticket to this year’s Super Six, while Naija Ratels are fourth with 15 points.

Olowookere’s side lost to Bayelsa Queens in the reverse fixture and the tactician says getting a win away from home is not impossible.

“Football is full of surprises and we are working against achieving all the three points in Bayelsa,” Olowookere told The PUNCH.

“It is very possible to win away from home because they came to our ground to get a draw and I don’t think we can’t do better when we face them in the last game of the season and we are putting in all our efforts.

“For me, it is not about revenge because there is no permanent enemy or friend in football but the result is what matters most and that is what we are going there for. We are not rivals, but we are going there to prove a point and luckily my team are gradually getting better and understanding the league and we want to end the season on a high.”
