Bendel Insurance’s quest for their first win in the second stanza of the abridged 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League continues after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kwara United in Benin on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
It was their fourth consecutive draw since the restart of the league which extends their unbeaten run in the league to 13 matches.
After a goalless first half, it was Kwara United who drew first blood in the 68th minute through Mohammed Alao.
The Afonja Warriors tried to labour to a famous away win, but their lead only lasted 10 minutes no thanks to Deputy Echeta who finished from close range to rescue a point for Insurance again.
The result leaves Insurance on top of the Group A table with 27 points, but their lead could be cut down further if Akwa United beat Nasarawa United on Sunday (today).
In Group B, Dakkada recorded only their win of the season over Doma United, beating the flying newly promoted side 1-0 in Uyo.
A 59th-minute goal secured the win for the hosts, but they still remain in the relegation zone with 11 points from 12 matches.
