Osimhen: I’m focused on Djurtus clash

By Daily Sports Nigeria on March 21, 2023

After helping Italian club, Napoli, sit comfortably top of the Serie A table with 71 points, 21 points more than second-place Inter Milan, Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has now shifted attention to Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea Bissau.

The Eagles will face the Djurtus in a two-legged affair as they bid to book their place at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast next year.

The first leg holds at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on March 24, before the Eagles travel to Guinea for the second leg of the encounter three days later.

The 24-year-old is one of the 23 players invited to the Eagles camp by head coach Jose Peseiro and his current form will surely be a big boost for the Eagles.

The former Lille forward has scored 21 goals in 23 league appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s side this season.

The Nigerian on Sunday scored a brace as Napoli defeated Torino to clinch their 23rd league win so far this term.

Osimhen, who has 15 goals in 23 appearances for the Eagles, sent a cryptic message to the Djurtus ahead of the double-header.

“Another win, another brace (against Torino). Focus now on the game against Guinea-Bissau. God is the greatest,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

Osimhen has scored five goals during the qualifiers, he scored a goal against Sierra Leone in the opening game, before hitting four past São Tomé and Príncipe on match-day two of the qualifiers.
