Abia Warriors Crash In Akure As Sunshine Stars Taste Victory

Sunshine Stars Football Club beat visiting Abia Warriors of Umuahia 2-1 on Sunday in Akure, with striker Sadeeq Yusuf’s brace all the home team needed for the maximum three points.

The Match Day 28 fixture played at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure saw Yusuf calmly slotting home from close range after the visitors failed to clear their lines in the 20th minute.

Goalkeeper Saliu Sulaiman was on hand to stop Abia warriors’ Paul Samson from equalising, before the visitors got a leveller in the 42nd minute.

But Yusuf cut their jubilation short two minutes later.

With the brace, Sadeeq Yusuf has so far scores 11 goals for Sunshine Stars to join Silas Nwankwo and Zulkifulu as the league’s joint leading goalscorers.
