SWAN Cup 2016 will be bigger and better —Committee Chairman •Forms go on sale

The Lagos State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has announced the 22nd of July, 2016 as kick off date of its annual SWAN Week.

The committee headed by Debo Oshundun after arising from an extensive briefing of the general congress of the association revealed that the weeklong event will start after the National SWAN election holding in Ilorin, Kwara State.

This year's edition which is expected to build on last year success will include a day seminar by seasoned journalists already lined up for members, and in continuing with tradition, papers will be delivered by top sports administrators in Nigeria.

The successful free medical check up for all members of Lagos SWAN and the Lagos sporting community will also makes a return by popular demand. With Labacare International Medical Mission, New Jersey, United States of America doing three days check up with free drugs.

The 5-ASide football tournament for member media houses will also holding during the week.

According to Debo Oshundun the Chairman of the Lagos SWAN Sports committee, organisers of the Lagos SWAN Week, "The committee is working round the clock to ensure that the 2016 edition will be better than that of 2015 which was a huge success.”

Speaking further, Oshundun, announced that the sale of registration forms for all teams willing to participate in the 2016 edition of the Winners Golden Bet Lagos SWAN Cup will commence on Monday the 27th at the SWAN secretariat, National stadium, Lagos.

He also revealed that two women’s teams consisting of Female members from different Media organisations in Lagos would be created and they will battle for honours during the Lagos SWAN Week.

He concluded that the committee will leave no stone unturned to make this year‘s event a huge success with the support of Winners Golden Bet who are the major sponsors amongst other supporting brands, such as Nigeria Sports Award and Owu sports Wear International who have supported the event through the years.

Oshundun seized the opportunity to call on well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to come out and support the Lagos SWAN Week.
