Former Bayern Munich forward, Luca Toni has hailed Victor Osimhen’s desire and hunger following the Nigerian striker’s displays in Europe this season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Nigeria international is in the third and arguably the best year of his five-year contract with the Neapolitans recording his best goal return ever in a season with 20 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions.
World cup winner, Toni praised Osimhen when he made an appearance on Prime on Thursday saying, “He has anger inside, we also saw it on the penalty won on a dead ball.
“He wants to score, he wants to be the decisive man of this team that wants to give away a Scudetto and something magical.”
He also spoke about Napoli’s chances of finishing the season with not only the Scudetto in Italy but also the Champions League trophy as he thinks they could have won the treble if they didn’t fall to Cremonese in the Copa Italia.
“The Azzurri dominate in Italy but also in the Champions League, playing extraordinary matches. We have to see when the matches become more important. Too bad they missed that game with Cremonese, they could really risk making the treble,” Toni said.
Osimhen only scored 10 league goals in his first term in Naples and followed it with 18 goals (14 in Serie A, four in Europa League) in his second year.
In his third season, however, Osimhen continues to score with regularity in the Serie A and despite missing a month due to injury, the 24-year-old is the top scorer in Serie A with 18 goals in 19 appearances.
