Lagos to build stadiums in all LGAs —Ambode

By Adeyinka Akintunde, Lagos on July 6, 2016

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has promised to build stadiums in all Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Lagos State.

He made this declaration at the Agege Stadium, when the Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Football Club, played against Ikorodu United in the Nigerian Professional Football League, in a match that has been dubbed the Lagos derby. He also expressed delight at the turnout of the crowd and the crowd control.

According to the Governor, “There is no reason why we should not have a stadium in each of the local governments. We are going to use the private sector participation in this. We are bringing in local investors who are interested in sports, so that we will develop our infrastructure together, and at the same time make sure that we bring the best set of players out of Lagos, and to the world.” Ambode said that there will be a stadium in Ikorodu. “You can take my word for it,” he said.

The governor also declared his love and interest for sports, especially football. He said “I am a lover of football, I eat football, I sleep football.”
