Assists In All Competitions: Iwobi, Jesus, Saka Tie In Ranking

By Daily Sports Nigeria on December 25, 2022

Only three Premier League players have managed more assists than Alex Iwobi in all competitions so far in the 2022-2023 Season.

According to the statisticians at OPTA, the Super Eagles playmaker ranks joint fourth in assists, alongside Arsenal stars Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka, and Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Manchester City’s Belgium national teamer Kevin De Bruyne is the top assist provider with fourteen in all competitions, followed by Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) and Ivan Perišić (Tottenham Hotspur) with seven each.

Of Iwobi’s six assists from seventeen appearances in 2022-2023, five were in the English Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup,

His first assist of the season was against Fleetwood Town when he laid on a pass to Demarai Gray to net the game-winning goal in the 28th minute.

In the Premier League, Leeds United, West Ham United, Southampton and Crystal Palace have been victims of Iwobi’s brilliant playmaking ability.

The Hale End Academy product has been enjoying a new lease of life under manager Frank Lampard after struggling in his first two and a half seasons at Goodison Park.
