NSF: Team Delta lead with 146 gold, Zamfara last

By Daily Sports Nigeria on December 8, 2022

On Day 7 of the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba, Team Delta retained their early and strong lead on the medals table at 3pm on Wednesday, with the host state’s medal tally totaling 275 medals: 146 gold, 78 silver, and 51 bronze.

Bayelsa and Edo states replaced each other on the table with the former moving up second, while the former dropped to second.

This came after Bayelsa’s massive gold haul on Wednesday.

Bayelsa have now won a total of 103 medals (40 gold, 23 silver and 40 bronze medals) while Edo, despite having more medals are below them with 138 medals (28 gold, 42 silver and 68 bronze).

Rounding up the Top 10 are Lagos in fourth with 80 medals and 16 gold, Oyo (55 medals and 15 gold), Ogun (41 medals and 11 gold), Rivers (72 medals with nine gold), Imo (25 medals and nine gold), Abia (27 medals with eight gold), and Kano in 10th with 38 medals and six gold.

Last on the table at No.37 is Zamfara, the only state without a medals at the 2022 festival.

At 35th and 36th are Adamawa and Gombe, who could suffer a drop, with their only medal being a bronze, should Zamfara claim a gold or silver, which will move them to No.35 on the table.

Delta already looks to be the clear winner as day eight of the festival kicks off on Thursday (today) and all that is left is to determine the second and third-place teams.

Edo must move to solidify one of those spots, as they just as easily lost the second place. They could also lose the third place to Lagos, who are keen on claiming a podium finish.
