Coach attributes Kano Pillars’ Handball Premier League victory to sponsors’ dedication, hard work

Coach of the Kano Pillars, Solomon Yola, has attributed his team’s victory at the just concluded Prudent Energy Handball Premier League to hard work, dedication and the commitment of the club’s management to the welfare of the team.

The season five of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League ended at the Indoor Hall of the University of Lagos, Akoka, at the weekend. Pillars won the men’s version of the Premier League by garnering 65 points from 22 matches. The team finished unbeaten at the end of the final phase to successfully defend the title it won last season.

Speaking with The Guardian, yesterday, Yola said: “I want to thank the almighty God, who enabled us to successfully defend the title we won last season. Our accomplishment is something to talk about because of the tough teams we came across during the championship in the first and final phases of the championship, which we won by God’s grace.

“The team really worked hard by giving their best to winning the final phase of the league in Lagos. Though early preparation was key, coupled with the determination of the players and commitment of the team’s management. Also, our participation at the African Cup Championship was also good for our preparation.

“Pillars is a team owned and run by Kano State government, but you’ll always expect challenges and the state did well to motivate us and things eventually worked out the way we expected.”
