Some of the best women golfers in Nigeria have converged on Dolphin Golf Club (Ladies Section), Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos, to battle for honours in the 2022 Ladies Open Golf Championship main event, which began yesterday.
According to the organisers, over 250 golfers are participating in the four-day event, which ends on October 30.
The championship, according to Lady Captain, Mrs. Bose Onwuegbu, will also have golfers from such African countries as Uganda, Ghana and Kenya, among others, in attendance.
She said: “Golfers are coming from Uganda, Ghana, Kenya name it; it’s a big show and that is why the main event is over four days.
“I participate in tournaments outside Nigeria and so people from outside Nigeria are expected to participate in my event too.”
Onwuegbu assured that all logistics to ensure a hitch free, funfilled event have been put in place, adding that golfers will not regret participating in the championship.
The championship teed off on Sunday 23 with children’s event, while the Caddies had their day on October 24, with the professionals on the course on October 26.
According to the programme of event, for the main event, yesterday was arrival day and cocktail, with Dolphin Golf Club’s Ladies Handicap 29-36 also taking to the field.
