Swan Dissociates Self From Purported NUJ Meeting With Tinubu

By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 17, 2022

The attention of the National Secretariat of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has been drawn to a letter written to the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election,Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

In the letter signed by the NUJ President, Chief Chris Isiguzo, the NUJ while inviting Tinubu to its National Conference slated for September 17, 2022 listed SWAN as one of the bodies expected to be part of the NUJ executives.

We wish to state categorically that the National Secretariat of SWAN is not part of the NUJ delegation.

While we accept that the NUJ has the right to interact with Tinubu or any other person for that matter, we make bold to state that as a duly registered organization under the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we are not part of the purported NUJ arrangement.

We therefore advise the NUJ to learn how to carry out its activities without dragging SWAN into it.

SWAN wants to state that for us, our relationship with the NUJ should be mutual without the unnecessary effort to impugn what does not exist.

SWAN is not part of the NUJ delegation to the said meeting with Tinubu and anybody who introduces himself as a representative of SWAN at the occasion is simply an impostor.
